Excellent Friday

Excellent Friday

Today's Quote:

"What happens to a man is less significant than what happens within him - Louis L. Mann

You failed the exams. Your business is collapsing. Your spouse is seeking for a divorce.  Your friend deserted you. You have no child. Your is worrying you. The school fees, the Bills .......
But, there is hope. The hope lies in your response to all these unfortunate but learning experiences.
Your response is the most important part in any situation.
Precious one,  in whatever you find yourself, remember your response is the most important.
This is because he that created you had better plans for you. Respond positively.

Stop using Exams Results to define quality eduaction

Society sometimes confuses memorization with learning and passing examination with success.
Memorization or Passing Standardized Examinations does not guarantee quality education.
We should not pressurized children to memorize and excel in examinations.
Politicians should not forced teachers to pass through hell to ensure their candidates pass Standardized Tests.

The society should not deceive itself into believing that remarkable performance in a Standardized Tests such as the BECE and WASSCE shows quality tuition and quality education.

Education goes beyond all the above. The quality of Education of any nation can be seen in several facets of our national life. It shows itself in our economy,  agriculture, industry,  religion, development,  and the general standard of living of the citizenry.

Quality education would even decide which people govern us. Are you not surprise governments do not give the needed resources and attentions to education. If they do, why  should schools be under trees? Why should some schools be without teachers? Why should we have schools without computers or electricity and yet are expected to be Digitally Literate? Why should we have schools without the adequate number of texts books? Etc.

This should tell you that no politician sincerely wish to improve and provide quality education. What we have currently is well rehearsed gymnastics, sometimes unrehearsed,  and daily noise making in our schools.

Why are the politicians educating their children in the top International Schools outside the country and yet keep on partying and praising themselves for providing quality education.
The high rate of graduate unemployment in the country currently should tell all of us that there is something wrong with our education.

If you want to destroy any nation, do not use atomic bomb or nuclear weapons just destroy their education system and you can get them.
The problem with most of us is that we concentrate on our children passing examinations. So no wonder we will organise series of 'extra classes' just to make them memorize lots of meaningless facts and figures.

Teacher welfare and motivation have not been tabled in any discussion either in parliament or at Cabinet Meetings. The current situation is even worsening the plight of the Ghanian teacher.  Government have absorbed all the fees and have cancelled any form of money collection in schools. Yet, government have not made any provision to pay these absorption. The meager allowances such as the Capitation Grants that schools used to carry out some of its activities are the same source that government is tasking schools to pay for some of these "absorption".

We should not in an attempt to win political points deny schools of the needed resources and yet come back and punish same schools for not improving education in the country.
The Ghanaian child deserves the best education. Governments should as a matter of urgency increase the Capitation Grants and provide all the needed resources to schools. However, if government cannot do it, then government should create employment avenues for parents and should allow parents carry out their parental responsibility of educating their children.

We cannot continue to pay lip service to the issues surrounding education. We, more than any other person know that increased enrollment is not synonymous with quality education. We cannot guarantee our future generation quality education if we continue handling our schools, children, teachers and the curriculum the way we have done it all these years.

Our educational system needs complete overhaul. We need a reform that would take care of the learner's need, the teacher's need, and a reform which will provide a direction for the future.
Ghana's education is on the verge of collapse.  We need to rescue and give direction to our education policy.

Our educational should not be left in the hands of politicians who will just do something to impress the populace all with the aim of scoring political points.

let us honour our heroes

Great genius from Ghana have make names across the globe. You travel outside the country and these names are mentioned with respect due to what they have achieved in various field. We however do not even see such men and women. We only eulogies them during their

death. It is only during their death that we hear all their good works and even name them after monuments. It is in this regard that I salute Mrs. Amissah Arthur who in a tribute to her late husband took the bull by the horn by asking society that "If my husband is as good as you are describing him why did you wait till his death?"

We as a society must begin to honour our heroes whiles they are alive. We should begin to eschew this hypocrisy and honour our heroes.

I was very sad to hear that the late Professor John Evans Attah Mills of blessed memory was a consultant in the drawing of an economic policy for the United State of America.

Do you know that the legendary and late J.H. Mensah was part of several economic transformation across the globe. Our own Anas Arimeyaw Anas is part of the Aljazera team. Do you also know that most schools in the United State of America are studying and practicising Azonto Dance, a dance by Ghana's Fastest Rapper Sarkodie.

Please it is time we start honouring our leaders. Honour even your chiefs, outstanding students, our religious leaders and our musicians who are making us provide.

Please permit me to salute the likes of Nana Agradaa, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo, Ibrahim Mahama, Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Rev Obofour, Bishop Angel Obinim, Ex. President John Dramani Mahama, Bishop Mensa Otabil, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom,
Vice President Mahamdu Bamuwia, Bola Ray, Kweku Sintim Misa, Uncle Ebo White, etc.
Let us honour them before they pass away and pour wonderful tribute on them.

Choose Wisely!

The only creature that has the power to Choose is the human being. Where you are today is as a result of some choices you made yesterday. To succeed tomorrow, then check out the choices you are making today, since it will be the fruit you will reap tomorrow. There are series of things you need to observe before making any choice.

WHAT IS IN IT FOR ME?
Imagine you buying something or investing your time and money in something that may destroy your future. Weigh the consequences of your choices and the steps you are taking. This principle of what is in for me is the first step toward achieving success. Before you take out money from your pocket, it is important to ask the obvious question which requires you to examine what you are about to purchase and see whether it is really beneficial or just for satisfying your human desire.

DO I REALLY NEED IT?
About 70% of the things we buy, are not the things we really need. The technological products we buy, the clothing we buy, our shoes, etc are things we don't necessarily need. As you part money to buy things you need, you are actually buying and promoting someone's idea or brand. A car loses its value immediately you drove out of the garage. Never enlist cars as part of your investment unless you are establishing a transport company. The car price depreciates as the years go by.

 INVEST YOUR TIME IN YOURSELF
Time is one of the most precious commodity available to man. It is only time that is available to the rich and the poor, the young and the old, the man and the woman, etc. If you invest in it in a profitable venture you stand to gain in the nearest future. The time available toyou today, how you use it will affect your future life. Try waking up early and sleeping late. Invest the first 2 hours before going to work on establishing contact with your creator and reading a material on your job. PLAN

HOW WOULD YOU WANT TO SEE YOURSELF THE TOMORROW?
Write down how you wish to see yourself. Describe what you would be exactly. The problem with most of us is that we don't know waht exactly we would like to be. Start living the life you wish to live live in the future. Dress, walk, talk and start behaviour exactly how you wish. The future will automatically be realized in your present life. Live the tomorrow you've always dreamt of today. Are you choosing debt or credit? The item or service you are eager to buy or subscribe to will it increase your financial position or it will diminish it. For instance if you purchase a car for personal use, the following must also be taken care of.
i. the maintenance fee (routine)
ii. the insurance cover
iii. fuel fee
iv. road worthy fee v. accident fee
vi. washing fee
vii. Tollbooth fee
viii. Police Inspection fee
All the fees will cause money to be taken out of your resources. The only benefit you may derive from this car is comfort and ease. Mr. Smith, was given a car by his client and he rejected it. He thanked the client, but refused to take the offer. When the client inquired, he told him that he was not rejecting the car, but he is rejecting the additional cause to his financial woes. The client then replied, "but Sir, I am not taking any money from you. It is absolutely free" Mr. Smith quickly told him it is not Free. You have just increase your financial empire by giving out a liability.

How Mobile Phones Are Draining Our Pockets?

According to all the telecom companies over 15 million Ghanaians own mobile handset. One cannot finish enumerating the enormous roles of the mobile handset in our lives. But as the saying goes someone's meat is another poison. The wise are using the mobile handset to increase and make money.

About 80% of mobile handset users are only draining their pockets and ruining their future. You can make money with your handset. This piece is not to condemn
the use of mobile handset. This is only to show you how the telecom companies are draining your pockets.

Free calls
Free Calls though good, causes great health hazards on the user. This Free Calls policy make callers speak on the phone over a long time. This causes ear problem in both the immediate and the near future.
Free Calls is one of the greatest time wasters. The time spent can be used judiciously to create wealth. Have you ever quantify the amount of time you spend in making free calls. Can't you use the same time in a viable venture?

Free After One
Almost all the telecom companies are adopting this strategy. This policy allows the caller pay ¢0.20p for the first minute per call. One thing about this policy, is that, unknowingly, to the caller, it encourages the caller to make more calls.
Let us assume Mr. X is a subscriber to this policy and on average he makes five calls a day. This simply means Mr. X will have to purchase ¢30.00 worth of credits a month. This means he will be spending ¢360.00 annually for making calls. If Mr. X continues this way for the next five years it means he would have to pay ¢1,800.00 just on making calls. Can you imagine what this same amount could do if he had been invested in a profitable venture? You can clearly see that you are the
architect of your poverty. Reduce your calls today and increase your wealth in future. Before you make any call, weigh its importance or relevance. Group your calls into asset and liability. Use your calls to create wealth. Your debt stock can reduce drastically if you reduce your calls by just 1%. Practice reducing your calls and check your asset portfolio.

Data bundle
Data bundle is the easiest way to give away money freely.
Your aim of bundling your data is to save cost, at least thats what the telehost advises. The truth of the matter is that when you bundle, it doesn't give you the license to use your data any how. A bundled data could finish before the due date.
Bundled Data is money. Anytime you switch on your data, remember you have open the flood gate increase your misery in future. Purchase data only when you want to develop yourself or increase your wealth. If you disagree with me, then let us do the following calculations. Mr. X bought ¢5.00 data which was used up just for a week. He used the data on social media, downloading music files, video files and other images which has nothing to do with his career or personal
developments. If he continues this practice in the next five years it means, he would have spent ¢1,200. (Breaking it down: ¢5.00 * 4 = ¢20.00 - Per month. ¢20.00 * 12 = ¢240.00 - Per Year. For the next five years - ¢240.00 * 5 = ¢1,200.00)

Borrowed Airtime
There are situations where one is allowed to credit airtime and pay later.
The problem with this strategy is that you pay with interest wherever you want to pay for your debt. Remember this: you cannot cheat the telecom companies. Purchase the airtime instead. This will save you money.

Caller Ring Tone
All the telecom companies have activated this option for interested subscribers. Though a very good avenue for advertisement, most of us, use it for entertainment.
Some of the telecom companies will charge even if the phone had been off for a month. On average ¢0.50 is charged on subscribers. This will amount to ¢0.50 * 12 = ¢6.00 per year.
If the subscriber continues this for the next five years it will amount to ¢30.00.

After National Service What Next?

National Service LogoEvery child dreams of landing in his / her dream job. He / she would fanticised and sometimes behave and dress like how successful people do. It is this zeal that propels him / her to learn hard whiles in school. Some would engage in illegal acts to pass examinations whiles in school.
One would, by law have to go through a year mandatory National Service in Ghana.
Hitherto, one gets automatic employment even before completing his / her service. The case of the Ghanaian Graduate is that he / she must search and apply for non – existence jobs.

The main challenge sometimes is the huge number that are searching for these jobs. The time is now for you to make a choice – between Freedom and Bondage. It is a choice between wealth and poverty. The stark truth is that you are not the only unemployed chap in Ghana or elsewhere. There are several of your kind in the system.

"National Service is a preparatory ground to acquire a special skill"

The only solution to the current unemployment mess, is for one to be SELF EMPLOYED. Don’t do national service and expect government to employ you.
National Service does not guarantee employment.

Learn a skill
You can relieve yourself from this bondage by taking the first step. Learn any skill. It can be driving, swimming, dancing, acting, cooking, drawing, public speaking, writing, reading, drumming, etc. Learn the skill very well as if your whole life depends on it. Go online and search for relevant information on the new skill. Ask people who are using similar skill and learn from them.
Buy books which contains information about your new skill.

Package the skill
Now you have acquire the new skill. Package your skill so that it looks attractive. Contact others to help you package your skill. Visit www.youtube.com and search your skill in action.
Search on the internet. The internet contains plethora of information on packaging your skill.
Learn from your competitors. Do not copy them. Create your own unique style.

Market your SKILL
Whatever skill you have must be marketed. Use social media to your advantage. Advertise on Facebook, twitter, YouTube, etc. Post only relevant information about your skill on your social media platform. Move to people or from house to house to market your skill. Using your skill for free sometimes is way of marketing.

You should always remember that when you are loaded you will be needed.

Price your skill
Give your skill a price. Don’t under – priced  or overpriced your skill. Do not fear to price your skill. Price your skill based on the cost of production. Use only quality materials when producing your skill.

The problem with the Ghanaian Graduate is that he / she lacks the skills to create employment.
